SPORTS RADIO FOR PEACE

11 August 2010
Cross Border Sports Radio Series to launch in Dundalk
A unique series of ten sports programmes will take place over the next few months courtesy of Dundalk FM in collaboration with Sports for Peace programme. These sports programmes will invite some of the prominent heads of sports societies both in the North of Ireland and the border counties to discuss how sport has been a key factor to finding peace in Ireland. The panel will consist of four members of different sports organisations that have experienced first hand the problems that exist while trying to bring communities of various ethnic, religious or political backgrounds together to play sport, they will speak of the various projects they undertook and how the became successful and what strides they had to take in order to ensure they remained a success.
The first of these programmes combined with the offical launch will take place next Tuesday 24th August at 7:30pm in the Enda McGuill suite, Oriel Park on the Carrick Road.
Members of local sports organisations will be attending to ensure to put questions to the panel and to experience a unique sporting project taking place. The programme will then be broadcast on Dundalk FM 100 and on community radio stations troughout Ireland and Northern Ireland. Members of the public are welcome to join the audience.
